Previous studies indicate that being in a supportive marital relationship would likely be associated with expected future financial security, one dimension of financial well-being. One explanation for this relationship might be that people in supportive intimate relationships tend to share responsibility for financial decisions, whereas people in less supportive relationships tend to avoid interacting when it comes to money. This study examines the role of being included in household financial decisions and believing that household money is shared in explaining the relationship between a supportive intimate relationship and expected future financial security.
