In this symposium, we will present recent work related to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on household financial security using a probability-based panel.  This symposium will bring together researchers from governmental agencies, social science research centers, financial regulatory agencies, and academia to discuss how U.S. households are coping with, and responding to, the pandemic.  First, and overview of data collection practices and ‘media’ ready research will be presented, followed by presentation of two specific projects using these methods.  Finally, we propose a panel discussion with the research team, where issues related to research methodologies and collaboration between private and federal entities will be discussed.
